She Finally Caught On!

Her third Halloween and she finally caught on!!

We had so much fun tonight walking through the neighborhood and meeting some of our neighbors. Cassidy was SO EXCITED because Nana Jill came Trick or Treating with us!! And to make it all better, this was the first year that it all finally made sense - not only are the people behind the doors nice, they give us CANDY!!!!!
She went as Princess Aurora... SHOCKER...
One thing we'll need to work on for next year is understanding that we don't live in all of these houses. If the neighbors didn't come to the door within a few seconds of ringing the doorbell, she'd try the doorknob. And once they answered the door, she tried to walk into a few of the homes!!

Here are some pictures of tonight's fun!

She started the night pulling her own wagon. That didn't last long... this one was literally taken on the sidewalk in front of our house ->

Trunk or Treat

Tonight our_church had our annual Trunk or Treat fall festival, which is when we invite all of the chuch kids plus anyone who attended VBS (and anybody else, for that matter!) to come sing the VBS music, have dinner, and "trunk or treat". People from the church decorate the insides of their vehicle's trunk and pass candy or trinkets out to the kids. We've gone every year since Cassidy was born and she has more fun each time. This year, she dressed as Princess Aurora and EVERYBODY commented on how beautiful she looked. A few people even bowed to Her Royal Highness!!
After we left Trunk or Treat, we stopped by the Lutheran Church up the street to buy our Halloween pumpkins. I've posted a few pictures of tonight's fun!

A New Dress!

My Mom and Dad took Cassidy and I out to dinner tonight, and while we were at the mall we decided to stop by the Disney Store. We weren't even three steps into the store when Cassidy spotted the most beautiful Princess Aurora dress! Obviously, she had to have it... the only frilly princess dress she has is the famous Snow White one. This Aurora dress was MUCH fancier than the Snow White dress, and since she'd been so well behaved at dinner (plus, the dress was 50% off!!) I decided to buy it for her.

So she's in her playroom right now wearing her Princess Aurora dress and watching Sleeping Beauty. For those not familiar with the Disney Princesses, Sleeping Beauty's name is Princess Aurora. She's also known to her Aunts (who are fairies) as Briar Rose. I wonder how much smarter I would be if my brain wasn't full of useless Disney Princess infomation?!? One day I'll remind Cassidy of the brain cells and academic prestige I sacrified for her!

Old MacDonald Had A Farm!

Life has been pretty busy these last few days. My Dad was admitted to the hospital early Friday morning (October 12), so I spent most of the weekend there. Not to worry - he came home Sunday afternoon, so all is well.

Cassidy told us Sunday that she wanted to go see cows and horses, so I checked around and came up with Hunt_Club_Farm. They have a Fall Festival this time of year, and it's wonderful!! Unfortunately, we forgot the camera... and boy did we miss out on some good shots! Cassidy had a blast in the petting zoo - she got to see chickens, billy goats, and a sheep up close! She chased them around until we finally pried her away. We went on the hayride and saw lots of horses. Of course, Cassidy was waving to everyone we passed - just as a good princess would. She had decided to wear her crown to the farm, so it was quite a sight to see!!

There was a little train there, which we rode 2 or 3 times (of course). And Cassidy had Princess Aurora painted on her cheek.

It was a great ending to a weekend that got a pretty crummy start!

Snow White Comes To Visit

Tonight Cassidy decided she wanted to dress up for her weekly viewing of the Snow White movie. And what was the chosen ensemble for this important event? Her Snow White dress, of course! I dread the day when she realizes the pastel pink shoes don't match the Snow White dress.

If she's this prissy at 2, can you imagine what we're going to have on our hands at 15?!? I can hear my Mom laughing already!!!

What a morning!!!

This morning was a rough morning for Cassidy. She's so strong-willed that reasoning with her just doesn't work sometimes. Take this morning, for example...

In the after-glow of passing the PMP Exam on June 29th, I bought Cassidy a pink tiered sundress. She became instantly attached to the dress, and called it her "Twirling Dress". It's very pretty, but it has spaghetti straps and is very much a summer dress. She wore it at least once a week throughout the summer, but we've discouraged it lately since the weather has cooled.

She decided this morning that she wanted the wear that pink dress, so I compromised with her and put a onesie underneath it. That was okay until she realized that the t-shirt prevented her from feeling the "Twirling Dress" on her belly (huh?!?). She cried and cried and cried and cried... I think she was truly grieving over the tragedy of how I'd ruined her beloved dress.

Finally, on the way to school I told Cassidy that we would talk to Miss Grashaun and see what she thought. If Miss Grashaun was okay with Cassidy wearing the dress (no t-shirt) and her jacket when they go outside, then we would take the t-shirt off. If Miss Grashaun felt it was better to leave the t-shirt on, then we would leave the t-shirt on.

As I expected, Miss Grashaun (Cassidy's favorite teacher in the world) let Cassidy take her t-shirt off. So it looks like the day may not be a total loss, after all!!
