Smash Ice Cream

Cassidy has been officially introduced to another fantastic family tradition - Smash Ice Cream!!

My Dad created Smash Ice Cream a long time ago. The idea behind Smash Ice Cream is simple - ice cream is less messy if it's contained inside the cone, instead of sitting above the cone. So it's SMASHED down into the cone, which is cool because you get ice cream all the way down to the bottom of the cone. I'm always disappointed to find nothing but air in the bottom of Non-Smash Ice Creams.

I guess I'm just spoiled like that.

Campbell is too young for Smash Ice Cream... she's content to chew on kitchen magents.

Fun in the Sun

What a GORGEOUS day!!!!! We spent as much time outside today as possible. We played with the water hose on the back deck for a long time, Cassidy rode her bike around the cul-de-sac, and then spent time trying out her new soccer and t-ball sets Nana gave her.

We do have a dilemma... what kind of set-up can we use to let Campbell safely play outside? She's not content to sit in the exersaucer anymore, and we're afraid she'll tear up her knees trying to crawl on the deck or sidewalk. We get our lawn treated, and are concerned about Campbell getting chemicals on her hands (hands go directly into mouth). Hmmmm.... what to do?

I made pink lemonade slushies and we shared some with Campbell. Check out her sourpuss face!!

Pig Pickin' At The Big Girl School

The girl's future school had their annual Pig Pickin' today, so we went and enjoyed the festivities. There was a band, bounce houses for the kids, and GREAT food!!

If this is any indication of things to come, I think we're really going to like this school.

Campbell didn't know what was going on... all she knew was it was awfully HOT!!

Recital Costumes Are In

Recital costumes have arrived! Ms. Amanda handed them out this morning, and they're even cuter in person than in the catalog picture!

Cassidy modeled hers for Daddy this afternoon, and I got a picture of her doing an arabesque in her beautiful mouse costume. I hid the costume in a closet after she went to bed... I'm hoping it will be out of sight, out of mind. Could we possibly be that lucky?!?

Please Pray for Kayleigh

Please pray for Kayleigh Anne Freeman. She's a little girl who was born premature last June, weighing only one pound and one ounce. She had surgery this past week and seemed to be recovering nicely. However, in the past few days she's started to slip away.

Please lift up Kayleigh and her family in prayer.

Field Trip to the Circus

Cassidy's class went on a field trip to see the circus today! I've never been to the circus, so this was just as exciting for me as it was for her. We carpooled to the show with Meredith and Lindsey, so the day was extra-fun. The show was wonderful, and it was great to share the experience with some of our favorite friends!!
.
After the show ended, we went to a local park and had a picnic. Once the girls were played out, we packed up and headed home.
.
It was an awesome, exhausting day. Cassidy's laying on the couch watching TV now... I knew I'd never get her to calm down enough for a nap, so I'll take what I can get. Hopefully she'll get enough rest to avoid any major meltdowns tonight.
.
We're ready to leave for the show!

Cassidy spent most of the show like this. The loud noises scared her, so she was too freaked out to be impressed by the people getting shot out of canons.

1 Snaggletooth = Unhappy Mommy

Something horrible is happening in Campbell's mouth. Her front teeth are finally coming in, but one has taken a distinct lead in the last 24 hours.

The fangs were somewhat funny, but at least they came in together. The Little Bitty Pretty Girl now has fangs AND a crazy-looking snaggletooth, and it's not cute.

Not happy about this. Not happy AT ALL.

Campbell's Latest Party Trick

Campbell started making these crazy noises a few weeks ago, but I wasn't able to get it on video until today. Check out her new party trick...

We are so stinkin' proud.

Another Jam-Packed Day

Black Beauty needed new shoes... they were all worn down from 60,000+ miles of wear and tear, PLUS that pesky right rear tire kept deflating. So after church today, we took Black Beauty to the shop and got her a new set of shoes. She seems much happier now.

Cassidy spent last night with Mama and Papa, and boy did they have fun! They went to see Pop and Lydia last night, had pizza for dinner, went to church this morning, ate breakfast at one of their favorite local hotspots, and then went shopping! Cassidy got a new princess bathing suit, and even picked one out for Campbell too. Campbell's suit came with a built-in swim diaper - NICE!!
.
And to make the day even better, Aunt Amy brought Cassidy the most wonderful gift this afternoon... sidewalk chalk shaped like BUNNIES!!!!! As soon as she saw it, she HAD to go outside and try it out. This is was our artistic creation of the day...

Campbell is growing so fast...

A Mouse/Bear and a Kitty

We've had such a fun weekend so far! Cassidy has become quite fond of sleepovers, and gets to have two this weekend!

She spent the night at Nana and Poppie's house last night, and is staying with Mama and Papa tonight. What a lucky girl!!!

After dance class we headed to Bear's House (Chuck E. Cheese) for Kate's birthday party. Kate's Mommy and Daddy sure know how to throw a party - it was great! And because we were there so early in the day, it wasn't crowded at all. Happy Birthday, Kate!!!

After gettin' our party on, Cassidy and I headed to a local shopping mall. Hello Kitty was scheduled to make an appearance at the Sanrio store, and I knew Cassidy would love it. We played in the mall's play area for a while before heading to the Sanrio store. Cassidy chose a Hello Kitty musical jewelry box, complete with a dancing Hello Kitty inside. She also got a cheater girl Hello Kitty. We made a quick stop at the children's boutique and Cassidy picked out a puzzle for Campbell.

I hear Cassidy has been having a blast with Mama and Papa. They went to visit Pop and Lydia, and were planning to have pizza for dinner tonight.

What a GREAT day!!!

If I Were In An Egg...

Every few weeks, Cassidy's teachers do imagination activities with the children. Ms. Courtney and Ms. Cherry give the children a situation, and then write down their exact response. The responses are typically VERY funny so I always look forward to imagination exercises!
.
Last week's papers came home today, and in them was an imagination exercise called "If I Were In An Egg". I took a picture of Cassidy's response. I can't decide if it's funny or weird. In case you can't see the writing, this is what she said...
.
"I would be a black egg. I love black. It's my favorite color. I am a duck inside the egg. I will shake until I see the Easter Bunny. I will see my Mama, my Daddy, Mommy, and Papa and I want to read a book and go outside to play on my new playground Santa built for me. I want to draw a picture and a smiley face."

Happy Easter!!

It's Easter, and the girlz had a ball! The Easter Bunny brought them each a basket full of wonderful gifts, we dressed them in matching white dresses, and Cassidy learned a new song at church this morning. We spent the afternoon at Lindsey and Meredith's house, and Cassidy rode a big girl bike for the first time. She was real nervous at first, but was riding all over the place by the time we left. I guess this means we're in the market for a bicycle... our baby is growing up!

We stopped by Nana's house tonight and got to see family we don't get to see too often. It was a great way to end the day!

After the Egg Hunts

After the egg hunts, we took the girlz to see Mama and Papa for a few minutes. Cassidy didn't want to leave, so Mama and Papa let her spend the evening with them. They had dinner together and she came home fed, bathed, and ready for bed. I have the best parents EVER!!!!

Lots of Egg Hunts!!

The girls got to enjoy a total of 4 egg hunts this Easter! We went to the one last weekend at our local park, the school did one for the kids Friday morning, and we went to 2 more today! Cassidy's getting really good at hunting for eggs, but Campbell is completely oblivious. Maybe next year will be more exciting for her.

Here are some pictures of today's Egg Hunts. The first is at Mary Grace's church, and the second is at our old church in a neighboring city. It rained on the second egg hunt, but we were still able to gather up the eggs before it got too bad. Unfortunately, the petting zoo and pony rides had to be cancelled... very disappointing considering all the planning and work that went into it. The kids still had a great time, so it was still a huge success!

Me and Campbell... I'm going to be so sad when she gets too big for the Bjorn!!

Cassidy was really hoping to find a golden egg (she didn't get one)

A family picture!

See what Campbell's doing with her finger? That's the Papa in her... he hooks his finger over his nose just like that.

Working on Easter crafts... aren't they so cute together?!?
Cassidy did this on her own, no help at all!
