Campbell is showing more signs of potty training every day. Tonight she kept grabbing at her diaper saying "poop...poop..." so I asked her if she needed to poop. She said yes.
Author's Note: Campbell calls anything that ends up in her diaper "poop".
I took off her diaper and immediately started hunting for the potty chair. It was only a matter of seconds before Campbell peed on the kitchen floor. We didn't think it was a big deal, but Campbell was upset.
Sergeant Sexy and I started cleaning up the mess while instructing Cassidy to stay out of the way. So what does Cassidy do? She runs with bare feet at FULL SPEED straight through the mess, falls flat on her back, and lands directly in her sister's pee pee. Trust me when I say it was HILARIOUS... but Sergeant Sexy and I waited until the girlz went to bed to have a good laugh about it.
Somehow in that little mind of hers, she was getting out of the way. I still don't get it.

A Surprisingly Good Weekend
Campbell took it easy on us Saturday afternoon. Once we got past the Gymboree/Dance Class debacle, the rest of the day went fairly smoothly. I got this video of Campbell and Daddy Saturday afternoon, and you can see she's clearly in a great mood.
And to make things even better, Auntie had Campbell for about 9 hours today. Cassidy and I took a long walk this afternoon and played in the backyard for a while. I got chilly and went inside, but she kept on playing. We missed Campbell, but it sure was nice to have a break from the screaming.
Next up - what to do for Easter? I have fond memories of getting dressed up on Easter morning, checking out what the bunny brought, posing for pictures on the front steps with our hoard [Uncle Butthead, Uncle Munka-Moose, Aunt Harley, Aunt Never-Says-No, Mama and Papa], and then heading off to church.
I hate to deprive the girlz of Easter Sunday experiences, but the thought of navigating through traffic and crowds with the girlz in tow is not appealing whatsoever. This wasn't such an issue at our old church, but our new church gets an insane influx of visitors on Easter.
Maybe it's time we checked out the Sunrise Service. Going to an outdoor church service on a dark, cold, windy morning instead of sitting in our warm kitchen taking a leisurely inventory of our Easter Baskets? Hmmmm... now THAT would give the girlz some fond memories!

They're Plottin'
They're trying to kill us. I'm certain of it.
Every day this week, Campbell has thrown a mega-watt temper tantrum before school. And every day this week, Campbell has thrown a second mega-watt temper tantrum after school. I don't mean a 5 minute meltdown - I'm talking HOURS-LONG screamfests. She even picked up a new move... the BACK ARCHING ANTI-CAR SEAT SPASM. You may recall Cassidy's unexplainable spasms... now Campbell's doing it. Hooray for us.
Twice this week, Cassidy threw tantrums. She never throws tantrums anymore! What's going on around here?!?
To add more fun to the mix, this was my last full week in my old position at work. They're trying to get every last drop of energy out of me before I go. And succeeding quite nicely, I might add.
By Thursday, I was so stressed my eye was red again. I went to get a sandwich from Subway at lunch, and the sandwich maker asked me if I knew my eye was red. Thanks, Captain Obvious. I'm really stressed, and pointing out my red eye to world isn't exactly helping me relax... mmmkay?
Campbell decided I needed to take her to Gymboree instead of taking Cassidy to dance this morning. I did it because I didn't want to listen to her scream. What was the end result? Happy Campbell, Screaming Cassidy.

We just can't win this week.
Campbell had fun on the rocking horse at Gymboree today...

And did as much climbing as she could!

Warning: Super Cuteness Ahead
I put Little C's hair in pigtails this morning, just like I used to do with Cassidy. The cuteness was overwhelming.

It's Gettin' Skeevy Around Here
A scout ant found his way into our kitchen and found a teeeeny little drop of ice cream Cassidy dropped on the floor last night. And now there are ants everywhere. Blech.
I've already made an appointment with Terminix, but I still feel skeevy everytime I walk into the kitchen. Double blech.
Ants are a sign that warmer weather is here. While I'm eternally grateful for this weather, I could do without Skeevy McSkeeverton in our house.

Gorgeous Weather!
We had some gorgeous weather this weekend! Unfortunately, we were installing some evil code changes and I ended up working almost all day Saturday. I was an hour late to Cassidy's end of season banquet and missed the dinner, but got there in time to see the dance routine they've been working on. The cheerleaders did a fantastic job!
Sunday was much more fun. We went to church, ate lunch, did some yardwork, played, rode bikes, visited with Mama and Papa, and ate a nice dinner. What a gorgeous day!

One Smart Cookie
Today was the big day... the Headmaster at Big Girl School tested Cassidy for Kindergarten this morning!
Cassidy completed her test and did EXCELLENT. It was a developmental test, and she consistently tested in the 6 year-old range. She had to build specific things with blocks, draw shapes, write her name, write numbers, verbally rattle off some animals, and answer a long line of questions about herself and her family.
Some of the answers were kind of funny...
1. Where does Mommy work? Next to Daddy (huh?)
2. What does Mommy do at work? She goes to lots of meetings (shockingly accurate)
3. Where does Daddy work? Far away
4. What does Daddy do at work? He watches the race cars on TV (HA HA HA)
5. How many brothers or sisters do you have? 2 sisters, and I am one of them.
6. What is your sister's name? Campbell
7. How old is Campbell? 1
It was interesting to see what they were measuring her on. For example - they weren't looking to see IF she could draw a square, but HOW she drew the square. The Headmaster was saying children of various ages draw things differently (i.e. the square tends to be pulled more vertically or horizontally depending on developmental age).
One portion of the test included a stick man with a few missing parts, and her job was to fill in those parts. He said children of a younger developmental age draw arms that extend straight out and legs that extend straight down. The arm and leg Cassidy drew were angled to look just like the arm and leg the picture had. It's hard to explain, but I found it very interesting!
I was assured that Cassidy will not be bored in Kindergarten. He said the children who are developmentally ahead at this age will stay ahead and do very well throughout school. They also tend to be leaders amongst their peers.
Sounds good to me. It was a great morning... the only part that hurt was signing the check. Ouch!

Happy St. Patty's Day!
Happy St. Patty's Day! The leprechauns took a spin through our house last night and peed in our potties while they were here. They also turned our milk green!
Cassidy thought it was HILARIOUS, but Campbell didn't understand. She didn't even notice her milk was green.

When we sat down to eat breakfast, Cassidy avoided her milk. Strange, I thought, since she usually drinks the entire glass and she thought the green milk was so funny.
A minute later, I realized my leprechaun shinanigan may have backfired. When I asked why she didn't want her milk, she said she didn't want milk that a leprechaun had peed in.
Then she said she wanted to give her milk to Campbell. How's that for sisterly love?!?

An Almost Un-Busy Weekend
Another great weekend has gone down in the books! After our respective visits to Gymboree and dance class Saturday morning, we rested for a bit while Campbell took her nap. In the mid-afternoon, we went to Mama and Papa's church for an All You Can Eat Spaghetti dinner. Pop came too, and it was really nice to spend some time with him. He's such a cool Grandpa.
The girlz had a sleepover with Nana Jill and Poppie Bill Saturday night, which gave Sergeant Sexy and I a few minutes to clean the house. Thanks, Nana and Poppie!
After church this morning, we went to lunch together. We wrapped up the weekend with a long walk around the neighborhood this afternoon.
It was an action-packed weekend, but it was about as calm and un-busy as it gets for us these days. It was nice to take a break from *warp speed*, and slow down to *full speed* for a few days!

Moving On Up
She's growing. As hard as I've tried to stop it, she just keeps growing.
We got a note from Campbell's teacher last night that said she'll be moving into the K2 class on Monday. Can you believe that crap? K2!!
How can it possibly be time to move this sweet thing to K2? She doesn't turn 2 for another three months! I'll be the first to admit, she's clearly gifted. But K2 already?!?
Ok, so maybe it's ME that's not ready for K2.

A Recap of Last Week... Week... Week...
I think I've come down with a terrible affliction - Broken Record Syndrome. I wanted to write a recap of last week since I completely missed posting, but my recap sounds alot like this week's events. And this week's events sound much like the week we had two weeks ago. Take a look...
1. We were busy. Very busy. Very, very busy. Did I mention we were busy?
2. Cassidy cheered at a basketball game. Or two. Or maybe three. I can't remember.

See what I mean? Broken record...

3. Campbell got the throw-ups at some point, but I don't recall exactly when. Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, maybe?
4. Cassidy's school was closed because of snow. Again. I don't recall exactly when. Again.
5. We went to gymnastics. The snow had turned the landscaping in front of the gym into mud. Puddles of mud + dark parking lot + 3 five year olds = mud all over my car. Awesome.
6. We went to dance class. And then we went to dance class again.
7. A new one - we went to an Oyster Roast at church! Here's a picture of the girlz enjoying the cookies.

8. We went to the grocery store. Again.

Goin' To The Lodge
We spent last night at the Great Wolf Lodge. We had the best time EVER. Campbell only had a mini-nap in the car on the way over there, so our trip to the waterpark last night wasn't as thrilling for her as we had expected. She did much, MUCH better this morning.
Cassidy had a ball at the waterpark (obviously - has she ever NOT had a good time there?!?). The Northern Lights Arcade was an unexpected hit this time. In past visits, we haven't spent too much time there. I think the arcade must remind Cassidy of Chuck E. Cheese, which is more than enough stimulus to evoke Red Bull-grade excitement. Campbell still gets her excitement via osmosis from Cassidy, but she'll understand soon enough just how cool the Great Wolf Lodge is!
After this morning's swim, we spent some time in the Cub Club playing with the toys and decorating our own rubber ducks. We also got Cassidy a very special treat - a manicure and pedicure at the kid's spa. It's the coolest spa I've ever seen - it has an ice cream shop theme! It's so cool, it actually made me wish I was small enough to fit in the tiny kid-sized chairs and put my big feet in the kid-sized pedi tubs!
Needless to say, everybody was sad when we had to leave. Don't fret, girlz! We'll go back soon... that's a definite.

There are no waterpark pictures to share this time. It looks exactly like it did last time we were there, and we didn't bring our cheap-o camera. I hated to miss the pictures of the girlz in the water, but we had to choose the safety of the camera over a few photo opportunties. If you think we're taking our fancy camera into that waterpark, you're out of your mind!

Pardon The Interruption
Please excuse the interruption. Lots of things have been happening, which has kept me insanely busy with no time to post. There was a death within our circle of friends at church, with the downstream effect being 1) Head Nerd had the super-sadz, 2) Head Nerd was drafted to be a stand-in cheerleading coach, and 3) Head Nerd was also drafted into the 5 and 6 year-old Sunday School teaching rotation.
Do I have time to learn cheers, chants, and dance routines AND plan Sunday School lessons on top of all our current busy-ness? No. But this is what you do as a part of the body of Christ. The Bible says if one part of the body suffers, each part suffers with it. In this case, the CensoredLastName Family is an "each part" and we are doing our part to suffer right along with the rest.
On top of all that, life at the Evil Empire is crazy-stressful these days. I have been so very stressed that my eye turned red last Wednesday. Now THAT should tell you something!
The good news is all of this is temporary. I accepted another position at the Evil Empire that will come with much stronger leadership and far fewer hand-wringers. Cheerleading is almost over, and Sunday School is a 2-week gig.
The better news is that we're planning a trip to Great Wolf Lodge in very near future. AND Little C gets to come with us this time - FUN!!!
