We're heading into the final stretch of Upward Cheer for 2014. I can't believe another great season is almost in the books!
I took these pictures of the girlz before practice last week. They've had the BEST time cheering with their friends for the last two months!!

The Bird Wuz Here
The girlz were so excited when they woke up this morning and saw gifts from the Valentine Bird! If you don't already know, the Valentine Bird is a tradition Papa started in 1976. I'm not sure if my older brother or sisters kept the tradition alive for their kids, but I sure did. You can read more about the Valentine Bird here.
It's one of my favorite family traditions, because nobody else has a Valentine Bird!
I don't have time to go shopping at stores like a normal person. I go grocery shopping first thing in the morning, and that's pretty much the last chance of the day to get anything done. Mama went out and found these gifts that the girlz had been asking for. And not only did she get them for me, she delivered them to the house while I was working.
We are blessed beyond measure to have supportive family that wants to help get things done, instead of adding items to the already too-long list of things to do.

Leaving the empty bags last night...
And hanging the key on the front door!

Playing The Odds
It snowed here again last night. The dance studio remained open, mainly because we've lost two week's worth of competition rehearsals in the last month and we've run out of available days to schedule another round of make-ups. So the girlz and I made the trek to the studio in the snow.
The drive there was actually very easy. It was snowing at a pretty good pace, but it wasn't sticking to the roadway. But as I sat in the lobby and watched the snow pile up outside, I started to wonder if I'd made the wrong decision. The snow wasn't stopping and we were hearing reports of accidents all around us.
We left the studio a few minutes earlier than usual and tried to take the longer (but safer) route home. The streets were blocked with accidents, so I turned around to try the shorter (but riskier) path over the bridge. Thankfully, we got home without a problem. It took an hour to make the 10 minute drive, but we did it.
Meanwhile, Lt Sexy spent his evening under-dressed, working an accident on that same bridge. He was still cold when we went to bed.
Cassidy chose to play the odds and stay up until 10:30PM watching videos on her iPod. After the insanity we drove through to get home, she was SURE school would be cancelled or delayed.
Imagine her surprise when this morning brought no cancellation, no delay, and no snow or ice to be found. Every bit of it melted last night, and there's not a trace of it anywhere!
Life Lesson: The odds aren't always in your favor, Baby Girl.

Wordless Wednesday
Since "OMG" is not a word...
That upside-down dancer is my little baby. Excuse me while I close my eyes and go to my Happy Place.

Cupcakes and Cheerleading
I took cupcakes to Cassidy's classroom for her birthday last week. It had been two weeks since her birthday, but we had scheduled the celebration twice and ended up cancelling both times because of snow. The third time's a charm!
We spent all of yesterday at our dance studio's Mock Competition -- a dress rehearsal of all competition routines on a big stage. It was a terribly long day for our two dancers, their Dance Mom, and their Prop Dad -- but so worth it to be supporting the girlz in something they love so much! Needless to say, this morning was ROUGH.
I see an early bedtime in our future!
Cassidy caught me taking her picture while her classmates were singing Happy Birthday!
Her Science project -- a Forest collage
The girlz cheered for a basketball game on Saturday morning, and lots of Grandparents were there to see them!

12 Years And Counting
12 years ago today, I convinced Lieutenant Sexy to show up for our wedding... and he had never even asked me to marry him.
BEST. TRICK. EVER.

Saturday -- Shoveling and Celebrating
We rode over to the church this morning to help shovel snow from the sidewalks and parking lot. It was a huge task, but lots of people had come to help. Our first job was to clear the walkway around the Family Life Center, and then we helped clear ice from the front parking lot.
The girlz were great helpers until they found one of Cassidy's classmates on the playground. There was no hope after that!
We spent this afternoon celebrating Pop's 94th birthday. My Grandpa is the best!!!!
Cousin Love!
And tonight, Lieutenant Sexy and I get to celebrate our 12th Anniversary -- ALL. BY. OURSELVES. Thank you, Mama and Papa!
