Campbell's Baptism and Birthday Party

The girl's Godfather is home from Iraq for a few weeks, so we all decided the time was right to squeeze in a Baptism and Birthday Party for Little C. What a great day!! We had good friends in town to celebrate with us, which made the day even more fun. The food was good, we were surrounded by friends and family, the weather was perfect, and Ashley came over to paint faces and make balloon art. What else could we ask for?!?

Campbell did great during the baptism - no tears or fussing at all. However, she didn't tear into her birthday cake like we'd expected. She barely touched it and then tried to throw it over the edge of her highchair tray. Big C and Little C are so different in so many ways, and in other ways they are so alike. Amazing.

Unfortunately, when I looked at my camera I realized I didn't get many pictures at all. I even forgot to take pictures of her Royal Cuteness in her Baptism dress! I'll take some tomorrow if she'll cooperate... stay tuned for more.

The cake was by far the biggest surprise of the day. Rewind 3 1/2 years to January 2006... we're at Mom and Dad's house celebrating Cassidy's 1st birthday party. Cassidy had a very tough time with reflux and wasn't eating solid food when she turned one. We bought a tiny little cake for her to play with, but didn't expect she'd do anything with it. We were right - she wouldn't touch it, and Uncle Ande and Aunt Linda had to intervene and make it appear as though she had eaten part of the cake. No big deal, we saw it coming a mile away.

Fast forward 3 1/2 years... Campbell has had no issues with reflux and will try to eat anything she can get her hands on. She's been eating solid food for months and had proven herself to be far sturdier and much more willing to try new things than her sister. We gave Campbell the same kind of tiny little cake, fully expecting to be cleaning it off the walls and ceiling. To our surprise, she gets a little bit of icing on her hand, promptly transfers it to her hair, and then tries to dump the cake off the end of the highchair tray. Daddy intervenes to no avail. Talk about shock and awe... we totally didn't see that coming!!
