Happy Birthday, America! We're partied out, but it has been a FUN day! We started the day by making a batch of patriotic ice cream cone cupcakes (white icing topped with red and blue sprinkles).
We then headed to the church to enjoy the festivities. July 4th is a VERY big deal in our community and that makes the day even more fun. We ate lunch and the girlz had snow cones. Cassidy slid down a very hot bouncy slide and screamed "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT!!!!" the whole way down. There were swings this year and she happily waited in line for her turn.
It was funny, those swings... they didn't appear to go very high or very fast, but kids were somehow falling out of the chairs and catapulting across the lawn. Cassidy had already taken her turn when the swings turned evil and started spitting kids out.
Sergeant Sexy alerted the pastor after the first kid went flying. While they were standing there discussing the situation, a second kid was shot across the grass. The ride was shutdown a few minutes later.
No one was hurt, therefore it's hilarious.
We spent the afternoon floating in the pool. If the weather holds out, we'll be watching the fireworks tonight. It's not looking too good right now, so we may end up putting the girlz to bed early.
Even if the fireworks are a bust, it's still been a great day. The best part wasn't the cupcakes, the snow cones, or the Kid Launcher. No, it's far more simple than all that. It's hard to believe, but we spent all day running around in some serious heat and I can't recall even one minor meltdown.
Amazing.
Something tells me we'll be making up for it at bedtime, so I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts!!
